Sunday brought with it a friend for Nana up from Palm Coast FL to visit her and take her for a "nana's day out." This meant we were all left as a family to go out and explore the area more. My car only holds 5 so when Nana is with us we either split cars or someone is left behind. It was great that she got to get out a bit!
We decided to visit the coast and see what we are in for as far as beaches are concerned. We were given lots of input so we have been soul searching to find a perfect spot. Unfortunately sunny Florida was overcast and bringing some heavy downpours in spots. While we did see Jax beach, we did not find the highly acclaimed Hannah park, we will have to tag along with Linda for that one in the future!
Since we had all day and afternoon left we decided to drive back and see how the weather on the base was looking, ( yes only 15 minutes away but the weather changes from street to street here!) It was as if we were meant to be there! As soon as we drove on base the skies opened ( only over us!) and we had a good two hours of playing in the water park and on the slide. The water park was pristine, and the kids were in their glory running around ( well not really running cause the lifeguards don't stand for that!) and playing in both the park area and in the slide/pool area. Baleigh was fearless going up the three or four flights of stairs over and over and over again. The slide swallowed her whole so the only pictures you could get were of her shooting out the end. She did not need a life jacket, that was her own choice! She rode the first time without one and scared the life out of me. I noticed she went over and asked for a jacket after that, maybe it scared the life out of her too! AMAZING and so much fun. Very reminiscent of many years back with my parents in Typhoon lagoon Disney. My mother rode a water slide for the first time called Humunga Kowabunga....lets just say, RI probably heard that scream. Bay only had screams and yelps of laughter and we were so proud of her bravery (and a tad petrified on my part LOL ). Payton refused the slide which is fine by me, and wanted a life jacket, ( cuz Bay had one of course) She was content to jump in the deep end of the pool with daddy. I of course was sidelined with Jasper who was very very warm and being only 5 weeks can't have sun screen. We only went to the park with him because they have giant blue mesh awnings that shade very large areas and are pretty cool. Not to mention I had a plan... I wrapped him in a receiving blanket and dunked him. :) what a happy man he was then! Our day ended as it always does...on the veranda grilling. Sigh...I do love it here.
